We had a brilliant first days jumping at HOYS.
Dave had an amazing result on 'Ulot' in the late night, Big class finishing 4th.
In a world class field of horses and riders the stakes were really high and the horse responded brilliantly to every question. The class was also televised so all our family, owners and friends were able to watch.
'Ulot', being only 8 years old took it on well, but a sensible round was what was needed on the first day of the show.  Owners Charles Britton and Linda made the trip down to watch and they were thrilled.
The day was not without it's up's and downs.
Despite the fact that all the horses went well, including the brilliant 7 year olds 'Valetto' and 'Luikka' in the earlier classes, Dave was not in the best of form.
Just before leaving for the show on Wednesday Dave fractured a back tooth, by the morning his face had swelled to twice the normal size! We had to take a trip to the hospital before the big class to get some help for him. He was prescribed Antibiotics and pain Killers.
Of course we had to get permission from the judges for this medication, so my day was spent running around trying to arrange all this! Finally we have the medication and we are hoping the swelling will reduce tomorrow.
Dave did so well to jump in the state he was in, even I was impressed!
Thanks so much to everyone for the messages to Dave concerning his health and his good results!
A brilliant Foxhunter Final took place, Bruce Menzies was a worthy winner, we caught up with Bruce in the toasty tent at 11.30pm, he was the most sober Foxhunter Finalist winner I have ever seen. We quizzed him about this and he told us that the owner of the horse is from Saudi Arabia, it is against his religion to drink alcohol, so after the class Bruce went over to him and was only offered lemonade. So the professional through and through Bruce stayed off the Champagne. I wonder if he will celebrate when it really sinks in what he has achieved?
Well done to him, a great jockey and a great horse.
